The race was eagerly anticipated with competitions for guessing which drivers would finish 1st, 11th and last and much talk about whether Vettel's winning streak would finally be challenged.

With a full-house, plenty of liquid refreshment and food to keep everyone going, the post-race analysis ran well into the evening.

Thanks to everyone for coming along. We plan to do something again next year so watch this space! Due to space restrictions we had to keep numbers down but if we missed you off the invitation list and you're an F1 fan let us know and we'll keep you posted for future events!

Why you should correctly winterise your boat

Winter Damage Winter Damage

These engines weren’t correctly winterised. This is what water can do to metal when it freezes!

The pictures show a hole in the engine block, cracked heads and cracked manifolds.

  • Cost of winterisation: around £200
  • Cost of a new engine: from £6,500

Please learn from these expensive repairs and make sure you’re protected next winter. Just let us know if you'd like us to winterise your boat and when the weather starts to get cold tell us when you plan to pack away for the winter. And when the weather warms up again we'll make sure your boat is ready to go when you are.

We hate to see people off the water due to boat problems. If you think your boat may have suffered damage over the winter we'll give it a thorough inspection for you and advise your options to get on the water as quickly and reliably as possible.

Nautiques UK visits Force India with the Institute of Directors

Force India

Nautiques UK Ltd enjoyed a tour of Force India's Formula 1 factory, courtesy of the Institute of Directors of which Anna is a member. The tour took us through the stages of manufacturing including carbon fibre manufacturing, the 'no photos please' development area where we saw the full scale development model of the 2011 car to the trucks which hadn't gone to Jerez for this week's testing.

Force India is one of the lowest budget teams in the series but has a determination to make every penny of investment deliver on the track. With sponsorship on the car starting at £100,000s it's a little early in our business plans to sign up as a sponsor (!) but the trip was an interesting insight into how to organise and run a business to deliver maximum results. We wish them luck in their 2011 campaign.

Industry first: Nautique Inc demonstrates 100% electric ski boat

Electric Nautique Electric Nautique

ORLANDO, FLA (January 25, 2011) Today Nautique announced the industry's first high performance 100% electric boat, the Ski Nautique E. To explore future propulsion technology, Nautique has partnered with LTS Marine, a Canadian company who specializes in electric motors.

LTS Marine began teaming up with Nautique during 2010 to test their electric system in a Ski Nautique. The Ski Nautique E contains two automotive electric motors that provide all the power necessary to meet the every day needs of our customer. The electric motors connect through a transfer case to the propeller shaft of the boat producing tournament worthy performance.

The Ski Nautique E is equipped with state of the art lithium ion batteries that are located to keep the center of gravity according to the boat performance; when fully charged this is equivalent to eight gallons of gas accommodating up to four slalom skiers during a session and achieving speeds of nearly 40mph. This new emissions free technology is extremely eco-friendly and requires minimal maintenance.

Two of the world's most highly regarded water skiers recently skied behind the Ski Nautique E. Andy Mapple, 6 time Men's World Champion stated, "In over four decades of water skiing this new boat from Nautique is the most exciting advancement I have seen. Waterski boats are the high end of boating and require tremendous performance; and Nautique, partnering with LTS, has made it work! This is forward thinking; it will be no surprise to anyone that Nautique is the boat company that made this happen."

Current Women's World Champion, Whitney McClintock commented, "The Ski Nautique E is powerful and peppy getting up to speed! It was a strong and smooth pull through the slalom course. While I was tricking, the only difference was the silence…It was nice to enjoy the sound of the water… So pure!"

"I am incredibly proud of our team and our partners, LTS, for making this boat a reality!" stated Nautique President/CEO Bill Yeargin. "The best part is that this is just a start, we look forward to working further with this boat and making more exciting announcements related to it in the near future," Yeargin added.

The Ski Nautique E project will be showcased at the Montreal Boat Show on January 27-31, 2011 at the LTS Marine booth. This boat will make additional appearances at primary Nautique events this season.

For more information read bill Yeargin's blog about the Nautique E or check out the video on our Links page.

New world trick record set by a Nautique 200

Nautique trick record

Nautique Press release: ORLANDO, FLA (December 16, 2010) - The International Waterski and Wakeboard Federation (IWWF) just approved a new World Trick Record of 9,210 points, set behind the Ski Nautique 200.

The world record was set at the Holy Cow Cup tournament held on Lake Grew at USA Water Ski headquarters by Natallia Berdnikava, behind the Ski Nautique 200.

"Breaking the world record was huge and very rewarding to me not only because it is the highest achievement in skiing, but also because I did it behind a Ski Nautique 200. The wake of the Ski Nautique 200, which I train behind at Jack Travers's ski school, directly helped me get two extra tricks in my toe pass and helped me make my hand pass in time," stated Natallia Berdnikava.

"The Nautique team is thrilled about this new world record being set behind the Ski Nautique 200," stated Nautique President/CEO Bill Yeargin. "This record is part of a long and growing list of slalom, trick, and jump records, along with innumerable personal bests, being set behind the Ski Nautique 200." Yeargin added.

Nautique Press release: ORLANDO, FLA (December 7, 2010) - Nautique's newest model, the Sport Nautique 200 is the proud recipient of Trailer Boats' 2011 Excellence in Design Award for the fourth year in a row. This award recognizes Nautique as reinventing the multi-sport boat in the towboat category.

Excerpts from Trailer Boats' editorial feature on the Sport Nautique 200 include:

"The Sport 200 will pull like a tournament ski boat yet also produce a nice, steep wake for wakeboarding or a long, open-face wave for wakesurfing."

"...includes cool design features inside the cockpit...the starboard-side rear trunk storage can be accessed from the sun pad or through an innovative, fold-away rear seat...a perfect place for storing skis, wakeboards and other gear."

"...the boat looks sporty and stylish on the water, and it's no wonder Nautique has been recognized with an Excellence in Design for the fourth consecutive year."

"Our entire Nautique team is excited to once again win this Excellence in Design award, this year for our all-new Sport Nautique 200," stated Nautique President/CEO Bill Yeargin. "This award is a tribute to not only Greg Meloon and our incredible Nautique Product Development team but also Nautique's solid commitment to product development and building the world's best boats," Yeargin added.

Nautique Press release: ORLANDO, FLA (November 10, 2010) — Last night Correct Craft, producer of Nautique boats, was named Manufacturer of the Year by the Manufacturers Association of Central Florida (MACF).

The Manufacturer of the Year award is given to a company that exemplifies excellence and quality in all of its manufacturing operations. It is a prestigious and coveted award and prior winners include Lockheed Martin, Siemens, Northup Grumman and Mitsubishi Power Systems.

Specifically, Correct Craft and its Nautique brand were recognized for its leading edge manufacturing processes, having a 'green' focus as it relates to manufacturing process and for having a world class quality system.

"I could not be more proud of our team for what they have done to improve everything we do here at Correct Craft and earn this prestigious award. Correct Craft has always been a quality builder but the new production and quality processes we have implemented over the past few years have given us the opportunity to achieve a new level of excellence." stated Correct Craft President/CEO, Bill Yeargin. "Even more importantly, while we are happy to receive this award, our real satisfaction comes from being able to build the world's best boats for our customers and their families." Yeargin added.
